Aerospace Education Organization (WAEO) Scholarship
Nomination Information
A scholarship of $1,000.00, sponsored by WAEO, will be awarded to a teacher who wishes to continue formal education in the field of Aerospace Education. This scholarship can be used to fund graduate study or research and development projects in the field. It is available for summer sessions as well as seminars and training sessions to improve the teaching process in the classroom. The funds could be used to attend aerospace education workshops including WAEO activities.
BACKGROUND
As an action of the WAEO
Board of Directors in San Diego, California, March 16, 2000, a committee,
headed by Betty Ann Mosen, was
directed to establish the criteria for the awarding of a scholarship to
promote the continued improvement of technology infusion into the educational
process.
This award is a one-time
award and may not be given to any individual a second time.
A statement or receipt must be supplied to the WAEO Scholarship
committee to account for the spending of the funds in the manner as described.
Any individual, institution,
company, or organization may contribute to the Scholarship Fund in memory or
honor of a leader in the field in an amount not to exceed $500. These donations will be acknowledged and the contributor's
name will appear in the program at the next conference, should they so desire.
A written request must be provided to keep your name out of the program.

EDUCATION
Part 1: On a separate sheet of paper, describe your educational training. Please include classes or experiences that demonstrate your abilities in scholarship and service.
Part 2: List the educational institutions where you received your academic or professional training.
Part 3: Outline briefly how you intend to spend this scholarship money to enhance your ability to include aerospace education in your position.

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Please have two individuals submit a letter of recommendation concerning your professional qualifications. Letters are to be mailed directly to the scholarship committee and not sent by the candidate. Candidates will not be considered for this scholarship award if two letters are not received. All letters of recommendation must be postmarked before January 1 of the year of the award.
The applicant agrees that recommendations made by the WAEO Scholarship Award Committee will be final. Persons who receive the award will be notified in advance so they may arrange to receive their award in person at the next conference. The award recipient understands that travel and all related costs will be at his/her own expense.
WAEO Board members and Scholarship Committee members are not eligible for consideration of this award.

Attendance at aerospace functions .. 5 points
There should be five judges.
Each judge would receive a copy of all applications to read, score, and
rank each paper (in case of tie points). Scores
would be returned to the Chair of the Scholarship Committee.
The paper with the highest score would win the scholarship.
The make up of the committee should represent different areas of the
country. In case of a tie, blind
copies of these submissions will be sent to two additional readers for tie
breaker decision to determine the winner.
